As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Joshua 24:15
My name is Rhonda Waldrop. I am originally from Mississippi, but have lived in Alabama for 35 years. I am a Medical Technologist and have worked in clinical laboratories almost 40 years. I enjoy many creative hobbies, including soap making, which I discovered when I stumbled upon a book on the subject many years ago. Because of my background in chemistry, I was intrigued by the process so I experimented with a few small batches and was immediately hooked. I stopped for a while because raw materials were difficult to obtain, but resumed the hobby when raw materials and resources became readily available again. I love making soaps for myself that don't dry out my skin, and I hope you will enjoy my creations also. I enjoy experimenting with different combinations of oils, fragrances, and colors, but I can only use so much soap myself. I began giving my excess bars to family and friends, and several of them suggested that I should sell my soaps. That's how Bama Soaps began.
My soaps are handcrafted and made by cold-process in small batches (6-12 bars). Therefore each batch is unique and may vary slightly from pictures. Most bars are between 4 and 5 ounces each, except the specialty shaped one. I attempt to reproduce the qualities of batches that make them customer favorites.
Handcrafted, cold process soaps retain the natural moisturizing properties that are often removed in commercial soap making processes.
My soaps are not tested on animals, depending on your opinion of my family.
